Lawndale Love Stories: Homan Square

Lawndale Love Stories: Homan Square is a continuation of work by artist Alexie Young of Art West Chicago in partnership with FHS to share and archive community histories of Homan Square and North Lawndale residents. This project will utilize the emergent themes of resident interviews to serve as inspiration for a community-designed plaza at the intersection of Homan Avenue and Harrison Street.

The creative team will be working with our partners at IFF and Latent Design to incorporate community-engaged design into the construction of a new, mixed-use, transit-oriented development project in Homan Square. This project is supported by the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs & Special Events through the Together We Heal Creative Place Program grant.
